Cameroon/ National Assembly : the Children deputy at the PAN

The National Assembly has just celebrated the 23rd edition of the Children’s Parliament in splendor, today Sunday 26 June 2022.

The protection of the child has dominated National and International debates for a while now. Just last week, the cultural, social and family affairs committee of the National Assembly held a briefing session to discuss the way out on some of the social problems that are currently affecting children. That said, this year’s celebration of the African Child which is in its 32 edition has been placed under the theme: the phenomenon of child abandonment: an obstacle to the life, development and survival of Children. The special plenary sitting to celebrate the 23rd edition of the Children’s Parliament was chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril. In attendance were some Members of Parliament.

The special plenary sitting was punctuated by four speeches that were from the representative of the International Labour Organisation to Cameroon, the representative of UNICEF to Cameroon, the Minister of Social Affairs and a speech from the Rt. Hon. Speaker. Five Government Ministers took questions from the junior members of Parliament. The questions were all centered on the rights of Children.
